Welcome to the website of the Town Bodajk- „the gate of Bakony”. We can offer you the opportunity to know the youngest town in Hungary. The town was not spared by the storms of history, it lost its rank, but it got back in a new bright.
The historical part of Bodajk traced us back before the Hungarian conquest, and it is a memorable place of the Hungarian medieval history too. The town is an ancient Mary-devotional place and a famous location of a pilgrimage. King Saint Stephen and Prince Imre visited our town many times. The town is proud of its outstanding buildings, memorials, for example the Lamberg-castle, The Roman Catholic Church, the Calvary, the pond; and we take care of these, because we hope that the newer generation will see and use them too.
Town Bodajk is not only known for its historical past but also for the beautiful Galya-valley, which belongs to our town and it is a recognized area by the tourism. Galya-valley offers a great pastime for tourists, sportsmen-women, and hunters every season.
After the changeover Bodajk has developed rapidly. It has promoted the historical moment that Bodajk has got a town rank in 1st of July, 2008. We have a modern health-centre, high-level educational institutions, and a developed social network. Our inhabitants have played a significant role in these improvements. Now everybody can live in a pleasant home. The active civil life originated a lot of self-organized communities.
The friendship of the foreigners -who visit our town-, is quite important for us. We have an excellent twin town connection with Rödemark in Germany and with Plesna in Poland.
Bodajk is waiting for you in picturesque surroundings with hospitable inhabitants.
Please, take a virtual trip in our settlement, and I’m sure that you’ll feel like to visit us personally.
We are waiting for you with pleasure!
Zsolt Oszlánszki
